Taking your research or great idea
beyond the university

Over three days in March you will use the lean startup methodology and learn how to take university research and great ideas to commercialization. This is a hands-on workshop in which you will collaborate in teams to apply the lean methodology to attendees’ ideas with the goal of learning all the steps to realize commercial value. This includes approaches to developing a commercializable technology, extracting the technology from the university, acquiring funding (both commercial and government), and forming startups.

The workshop will be guided by experienced instructors from around Alaska and silicon valley and led by Steve Weinstein, an entrepreneur who teaches the lean launch method at Berkeley and Stanford.

Participation during all three days of the event is required. At the end of the workshop teams will present their products and have a plan for taking next steps toward commercialization.

This program is presented by the Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization (OIPC), in partnership with BMNT Consulting and with support from the Office of Naval Research.
